U.S. stocks hit the doldrums this week as WaMu succumbed to the subprime crisis amid the largest bank failure in U.S. history. Week over week the Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 245.27 points or 2.15 percent to close at 11,143.13. The S&P 500 fell 41.81 points or 3.33 percent to 1213.27 while the NASDAQ Composite Index retracted 90.56 points or 3.98 percent settling at 2,183.34. In the Euro zone, the Dow Jones Stoxx 50 slid 97.06 points or 2.98 percent to 3,156.46 and FTSE 100 declined 222.83 points or 4.20 percent to close the week at 5,088.47. The Nikkei 225 closed down 27.70 points or 0.23 percent to 11,893.16. Commodities were mixed as Gold added $0.85 or 0.10 percent to $878.75 per ounce while Oil fell $1.13 or 1.05 percent to close the week at $106.89 per barrel.
